How to Set Up Apple CarPlay

Are you ready to hit the roads around Grosse Pointe, connected with the power of your Apple iPhone? Apple CarPlay seamlessly integrates into most Nissan models to provide you with turn-by-turn navigation, calling, texting, and music, all with the safety of remaining hands-free. Let voice-activated Siri be your co-pilot as you drive around St. Clair Shores with no additional fees. Here’s how to get going:

Set Up Apple CarPlay

Before you get behind the wheel:

  1. Verify that you’re in an area that offers Apple CarPlay, that your Nissan model offers it, and that you’re using the latest iOS on your iPhone.
  2. Start your car. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General and turn on Siri and CarPlay.
  3. Connecting via USB: Plug a lightning cable into your iPhone and your Nissan’s USB 1 port.
  4. If your car supports wireless CarPlay, press and hold the voice-command button on your steering wheel, with the stereo in wireless or Bluetooth mode. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap Available cars, then select your car.
  5. A message will appear on your in-dash screen, asking if you’d like to connect to Apple CarPlay. Select “Don’t Show Again,” and “Yes.”

And that’s it! Once your Nissan and iPhone have been paired through Apple CarPlay, you’ll get a simplified iPhone menu on your in-dash screen every time you connect your phone. You can open apps through the touchscreen, or by holding down the voice-command button on the steering wheel to activate Siri.

Apple CarPlay Apps

No, you can’t play your favorite games through Apple CarPlay, and we don’t recommend the meditation apps, but there are tons of iOS apps that will make your Sterling Heights drive easier and more entertaining. Lots of our favorites are included on your iPhone, but some great third-party apps have been integrated for Apple CarPlay:

  • Waze
  • Spotify
  • TuneIn Radio
  • WhatsApp
  • Overcast
  • Audible
  • MLB At Bat
  • NPR
  • Any many more
